VICTIMS OF US WAR ON DRUGS POLICIES IN
MEXICO
Phoenix,
Arizona - Today members of Los Comités de Defensa del Barrio will lead a March
of Solidarity and Protest from the Mexican
Consulate in Phoenix to the Immigration
Customs Enforcement (ICE) headquarters in downtown Phoenix, Arizona. The purpose
of the demonstration is to bring to light the complicity and collusion of the
US Government policies and funding for the atrocities of violence and human
rights abuses that have become normalized with IMPUNITY in MEXICO at the highest levels of state government with
US backing and technical support under the so-called "War on Drugs".
As a
community based formation of Indigenous
Peoples of the Original Nations of the territory going back millennia, the Comités de Defensa del Barrio are
calling for comprehensive international investigation on the root causes of the
Impunity in Mexico and Arizona going
back to October 12, 1492 that has
produced the pogrom of persecution and
GENOCIDE in Mexico against
Indigenous Peoples now being revealed due to the missing 43 students of Ayotzinapa, Guerrero and the institutionalized
racism against Mexican Peoples in Arizona,
which fomented AZ SB1070.

As the tragedy of the missing students continued to dominate headlines and politics in Mexico, the federal government passed the last of the regulations to allow for the privatization of Mexico's oil company and the participation of private companies in oil and gas projects in Mexico.

For this reason, the deaths and disappearances in Mexico have their roots in the domestic and foreign trade politicies of the United States, the Comités de Defensa del Barrio call to MARCH for JUSTICE and to expose this conspiracy between the governments of Mexico and the United States. This collusion is confirmed by the fact that at the time that the students were protesting in front of the central offices of the PGR in Mexico, the Arizona Representative Matt Salmon along with a congressional delegation was meeting with the Attorney General of Mexico Jesus Murillo Karam to commit more training, more arms and more cooperation to the suppression of Mexicans in civic uprising against the tyrannical practices and mass murder by the state.
The disappeared in Ayotzinapa and the disappeared, stolen from their families by Sheriff Joe, ICE/Border Patrol and the police of Phoenix are one and the same. We are the same families, the same ancestral nations who have persecuted for more than 500 years. For this reason we reiterate that the IMPUNITY in Mexico began on October 12, 1492. We must bring and end to the root cause of colonization and genocide. Justice and Self Determination for the Original Nations of Anáhuac.
They took them alive, we want them back alive. Ayotzinapa Lives! Our ancestral migrants Live, Nican Tlacah - Great Turtle Island, Abya Yala by our ancestors, misnamed [America].
The weapons that were used in the attack and
disappearance of the 43 students in
Guerrero originated in the type of US operations known as Fast and Furious and the Plan
Florida. At the same time, the
deaths and disappearance of persons crossing the desert and the Rio Bravo since
the North American Free Trade Agreement
(NAFTA) was implemented in 1994, average 400 confirmed deaths per year.

The drug war is designed to perpetuate
itself. The drug war is built to fuel the drug war, not to stop drug
production, trafficking or consumption, not to address real public health
issues, but to create these very forms of violence, which require further
military intervention.
Yes, the United States has a fairly direct role in what’s
happening today. And as the students begin and youth begin to analyze it, it’s
becoming a major issue in terms of how far they’ll be able to change the model.
Besides the nearly $3 billion that’s come through the Merida Initiative,
there’s also Department of Defense money, and that money is going to train
police forces and armed forces, that now we find are directly involved in
attacks on the people, and particularly attacks on youth. We mentioned the case
of Tlatlaya, where 22 youth were—now, it seems, by all evidence
available—actually executed by the armed forces. And the State Department has
admitted that in that battalion, although we don’t know because they won’t give
us the names, there are five individuals that were trained in the United
States.
