Please ask ICE Field Director Lucero to reconsider the case
of Carlos Alberto Linares (A#208696722) asking him to issue a Notice To Appear
(NTA) so Carlos can be released from detention and keep fighting his case in
order to avoid deportation to the dangerous violence directed against him, his
family and the Indigenous Peoples of El Salvador.
It has come to our attention that the
persecution against the Indigenous Peoples of el Salvador has not been
addressed in this case, and as Carlos is a member of the Nahuat Peoples of
Cuzcatlan [El Salvador], justice and fairness requires a further investigation
of the causes of the systemic persecution from which Carlos has fled by pursuing
asylum in the US.
Message by Margarito Esquino of the National Indigenous Association of El Salvador:
"Carlos is an indigenous nahuat brother who suffered in the 12 year war when he was very small, and he is still suffering violence. Last year he was tortured by a group of organized crime along with his 5 year old son. They were targeted for being indigenous. Then, he left his family to escape death threats and people who were looking for him. The day they tortured him his wife fell ill and she became more sick when she heard he was in detention because he is the only support that their child has. We ask to support him not be deported. His family is still under threats. If you would like to contribute with letters from organizations, churches and individuals please contact us. Maryland Congresswoman Edwards also is supporting us. "

Mensaje por La Asociación Nacional Indígena Salvadoreña:"Carlos es un hermano indigena nahuat que sufrio en la guerra de 12 años que paso, fue muy pequeño, aún sigue sufriendo violencia. El año pasado fue torturado por un grupo de crimen organizado junto con su hijo de 5 años. Lo señalaron por ser indígena. Despues, dejo su familia para escapar las amenazas de muerte y las personas que lo buscaban. El dia que lo torturaron cayo enferma su esposa y se enfermo mas cuando escucho que estaba en dentención porque el es el único sustento que tiene su hijo. Le pedimos a que nos apoyen para que no lo deporten. Su familia sigue amenzada. Si gusten aportar con cartas, de parte de organizaciones, iglesias y individuos favor de contactarnos. La Congresista Edwards de Maryland también nos esta apoyando."
