Phoenix, Arizona - Today members of Los Comités de Defensa del Barrio will lead a DEMONSTRATION of SOLIDARITY and PROTEST at the Mexican Consulate in Phoenix to demand accountability for the complicity and collusion of the US Government with the atrocities of violence and human rights abuses that have become normalized with IMPUNITY in MEXICO.
On November 20th, a request was submitted to US congressman Matt Salmon to identify the members of the US trained battalion who were involved in the assassination of 22 victims at Tlatlaya in Mexico on June 30th in operations conducted with US backing and technical support under the so-called "War on Drugs".
At the same time, the Human Rights Commission of the Comités de Defensa del Barrio submitted a Petition for Review before the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights calling for review of the underlying structural issues of DISCRIMINATION against Indigenous Peoples which frames the both the atrocities of Ayotzinapa and the state sanctioned racism in the State of Arizona such as AZ SB1070.
The Human Rights Commission of the Comités de Defensa del Barrio has made contact with the Inter-American Commission on Human Rights Interdisciplinary Group of technical experts now working collaboratively in Mexico towards the locating of the disappeared students of Ayotzinapa, calling for punishment for the responsible parties, and assistance for their families. The Petition for Review before the Interdisciplinary Group calls international investigation of the issue of Complicity and Collusion by the US government's policies, training and funding of the operatives of the narco-state in Mexico to be brought to light comprehensively, and the cause of justice be served.
